After graduating from high school, I attended Catholic seminary for four years to become a priest. I left the seminary with certificates in English, History and Scripture, knowing that being a priest was not something I felt called to do.
After working for 15 years as an electrical engineer I was laid off. I had also tried my hand at singing part time in the clubs. I also sang, on occasion, at a local prison in Manchester UK. On one visit a prisoner gave his testimony of saving faith in Jesus Christ while he was serving a long sentence for a serious crime. I knew he had something that I didn’t have so I asked what I needed to do to “become a Christian” and be “born again” like he spoke about in his testimony. After giving my life to Jesus as a result of much prayer from my wife, Julie, I knew that God was calling me to serve Him. I embarked on a three-year study of God’s word at Emmaus Bible College.
Involvement in church life became something that God led me to and I eventually became an Associate Pastor at Hazel Grove Baptist Church near Manchester in the UK.
In 1995 a church from Sarasota Florida, under the direction of Pastor Dan Cracchiola, came to perform the “Singing Christmas Tree” with 125 choir members at our church. In 2002 with God’s direction, we ended up being called to First Baptist Church of Sarasota serving “Single Adults” for 9 years. In 2003, I was ordained a Baptist Pastor. At the beginning of 2012, God led us to start this new work continuing to reach the lost here in Sarasota.
My wife Julie, while in England, worked at a College with “special needs” students. After arriving here she continued to work with children. Then she left her job to become a “full time” grandma. Our daughter Claire is married to Jonathan, and they have two boys, Timothy & Nathaniel. They still live in the UK where Jonathan is a Baptist Pastor and with Claire leading worship seminars.
Gemma, our younger daughter, is married to Bruce Gallaway, who is from Texas. They have three sons Brandin, Daniel, and Jacob. Gemma works as the Nursery Director at Freedom Christian Church, and Bruce works for BB&T bank.
My hobbies are playing golf and supporting the greatest soccer team in the world – Manchester United. I am a self taught guitarist and will often lead worship.
Julie and I are very excited about this new church and look forward to where God leads us in this ministry.
